2011 Adjudicators

An adjudication panel comprising Maestro Andrea Molino, Peter Coleman-Wright and Elizabeth Whitehouse will determine the Finalists after consideration of the recordings and proposals.

Dr Di Bresciani, Founder of YMF Australia (sponsor of the YMF Australia Award) will join the panel of adjudicators at the Finals. Di completed a Music Degree at the University of Melbourne and subsequently obtained a Doctor of philosophy in music and psychology undertaken with a Post Graduate Research Scholarship. In the 1980’s her research achieved international recognition, with an invitation to visit the USSR by Dimitri Kabalevsky, publications in research journals and participation in Research Commissions for the International Society for Music Education.

In 1988 Di founded the Youth Music Foundation of Australia Inc (YMF) which is affiliated with leading music /arts institutions in Australia, Italy, the US and the UK. In 2003 Di was selected Woman Achiever of the Year by the Australian Brain Foundation. Di is a life member of the Melba Trust Foundation, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Music Teachers, a senior adjudicator for the Australian Music Examinations Board, a Life Governor of University College, Melbourne, Founder and Managing Director YMF, a Board Member for the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Maestro Andrea Molino, composer and conductor studied in Turin, Milan, Venice, Paris and Freiburg. His work as a conductor is virtuosic, full of energy and vitality – his programming is exciting and highly original.

Musical Director of the Pocket Opera Company in Nuremberg (1996-2007) and since 2008 is Music Curator at the Fondazione Claudio Buziol in Venice. Currently he is in Australia to conduct the Australian premiere "Of Mice and Men" for Opera Australia.

Peter Coleman-Wright is a baritone equally at home singing opera, concerts or recitals, and has been performing all over the word for many years. A native of Australia, Peter works regularly with Richard Hickox, Edo de Waart, Mark Elder, John Fiore, Patrick Summers, Sir Charles Macerras, Carlo Rizzi, Daniele Gatti and Sir Andrew Davis. He is currently a mentor for the Young Artist Programme of Opera Australia and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Melbourne in 2008.

Elizabeth Whitehouse an Australian born soprano, began her professional career in 1998. Her broad repertoire encompasses Italian, German, Slav, Russian and English opera literature. Though based in Europe, she has a special attachments to her Australian heritage (she studied at the Conservatorium of Music, Sydney with Marianne Mathy) and returns to sing in Australia regularly.
