2012 Prizes & Opportunities
YMF Australia Award
The YMF Australia Award is the premier prize of the Opera Awards: $30,000 presented by YMF Australia.
A condition of the Award is that it be used predominantly for overseas study. The recipient will also be invited to sing at the IFAC - Australian Singing Competition's Finals Concert in the Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House. YMF Australia will require a written report of study undertaken and the benefits derived. The winner is required to give a recital in Melbourne for YMF Australia at a mutually acceptable time.
The recipient of the YMF Award will also receive:
Armstrong-Martin Scholarship
$4,500 presented by the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust for overseas study.
Haas Award
$2,500 cash grant presented by Music & Opera Singers Trust Limited (MOST).
Editorial Resources Prize
Professionally produced résumé valued at $800.
Additional Prizes
The following additional prizes will also be awarded to Finalists in the Opera Awards:
Royal Over-Seas League Music Bursary
Return airfare to the UK, one week's accommodation at Over-Seas House; a lunchtime recital at either St James Piccadilly or St Martin in the Field; an evening concert at both Over-Seas House London and Over-Seas House Edinburgh; one week at Dartington International Summer School or similar course of masterclasses; consultation lesson with a leading vocal teacher in London; tickets for major concerts and other cultural events during the stay at Over-Seas House and cash of $3,000 (total package value of approximately $10,000. The ROSL will provide a prize-winning young professional accompanist for all concerts. Availability for these opportunities is dependent on the presence of the recipient at the appropriate time. The recipient must be under the age of 30 years on 30 January 2012.

Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme
An opportunity to participate in a high-calibre international masterclass or opera production led by eminent musicians in the UK. Each course ends with a public recital. The programme of masterclasses for 2012 will be a will be available online from September/October 2011 on the Aldeburgh Music website. Applications can be made online. Initial auditions are by video or audio recording submission with the possibility of a live 2nd round audition. All details are available on the Aldeburgh Music website. If selected the recipient will receive a Scholarship to cover the fees for the course but will need to budget for his/her own travel and living expenses.

Glyndebourne Festival Prize
An opportunity to attend staged rehearsals and audition for the 2012 Glyndebourne Festival. The recipient will need to budget for his/her own travel and living expenses and will be entitled to receive 'company' benefits and support while at Glyndebourne.

The Opera Awards consists of cash prizes and career opportunities designed to assist recipients further their studies or careers overseas. These include some of the most prestigious and recognised awards in the Australian operatic and classical singing community.
